Nasz pobyt w Australii był stosunkowo krótki więc zwiedzanie ograniczyliśmy do najciekawszych miejsc w Sydney i okolic. W samym Sydney zaliczliśmy Sydney Aquarium i Sydney Taronga Zoo.
Our stay in Australia was relatively short so we focused our sightseeing on the most interesting spots in Sydney and around. In Sydney we visited Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Taronga Zoo.
Sydney Aquarium oczywiście obowiązkowo zaliczone ponieważ w każdym kraju, gdziekolwiek byśmy nie byli, zaliczamy zwiedzanie wszelkich akwariów/oceanariów (oczywiście jeśli takowe się tam znajduje). Akwarium jest bardzo ciekawe i fajnie urządzone, tunel wodny, foki, pingwiny, rekiny, dużo gatunków ryb i innych stworzeń morskich.
Sydney Aquarium was at the top of our list as we always visit places like this in every country we go to, if there is one, of course. Aquarium is really interesting and nicely organised, with underwater tunnel, seals, penguins, sharks, and many species of fish and other sea and water creatures.
Sydney Taronga Zoo - bardzo fajne zoo z wspaniałymi widokami na centrum miasta, łącznie z Operą Sydney, mostem Sydney Harbour Bridge i wieżą Sydney Tower. Załapaliśmy się na show z ptakami i drugi show z fokami. Zoo jest bardzo ładne i przyjemnie było zobaczyć kilka gatunków zwierząt rzadziej spotykanych w Europie.
Sydney Taronga Zoo is a very nice zoo with wonderful views of the city, including Sydney Opera and Sydney Tower. We had a chance to watch bird show and seals show. The zoo is really nice and well arranged, with some species of animals rarely seen in Europe.
Koala Park to kolejne przyrodniczo-zwierzęce miejsce, stosunkowo blisko Parramatty. Misiów Koala jest sporo, i nawet załapaliśmy się na karmienie i głaskanie. Koala generalnie głownie śpią i są bardzo leniwe (a przynajmniej takie sprawiają wrażenie). Karmienie wyglądało tak jakby rzeczywiście same nie potrafiły jeść i pani wkładała im jedzenie do buzi ;)
Koala Park is another animal/nature interesting places we visited, not far from Parramatta. There are a lot of Koalas, and even we watched them being fed, and stroke a few. Koala’s main activity is sleeping and are really lazy (at least you get the impression they are). The feeding looked as if they were not able to eat by themselves and the lade was simply stuffing their mouth with the leaves and branches ;)
Wbrew nazwie, znajdują się tam inne zwierzęta oprócz misiów Koala. Jest trochę kangurów biegających swobodnie i można je karmić i głaskać ile się chce. Były też kangury za ogrodzeniami, nawet udało nam się wśrd nich dostrzec że jedna kangurzyca miała małe w torbie.
Było też trochę ptaków, łącznie ze spacerującymi kurami i kogutami i wielki ptak Kazuar, którego karmiliśmy trochę żarciem dla kangurów, i chętnie zjadał z ręki, i był przy tym bardzo delikatny.
Despite its name, there were also other animals apart from Koalas. There were a lot of kangaroos running (or sleeping) in the open space, very friendly and we could easily feed or stroke them. There were also kangaroos in the fenced spaces, and we even saw one kangaroo with a little baby roo in the bag. There were also some birds, including chickens, and a big bird - cassowary. We actually fed it with the dry food we had for the kangaroos, and it was very eager to eat from a hand being very delicate at the same time.
Australian Reptile Park to kolejne zoo które zwiedziliśmy. Udało nam się załapać na show z pokazem i pogawędką na temat różnych węży i jaszczurów, do tego porównanie aligatora z krokodylem - porównanie ich zachowania w tych samych sytuacjach itp. Bardzo ciekawe i facet który to prowadził robił to naprawdę w interesujący sposób. W jego wykonaniu udało nam się też zobaczyć jak biega po zagrodzie diabła tasmańskiego i próbuje go złapać - co wkońcu mu się udałi i zrobił również krótką prezentację na jego temat. Diabeł wygląda trochę jak koto-mysz a dźwięk który wydaje jest naprawdę diabelski, coś jak głośne niskie charczenie.
Australian Reptile Park is another zoo we visited. They had a lake full of crocodiles, some Koala bears, wombats, turtles, kangaroos. We got there right in time to watch the show and chat about snakes and other reptiles, and also a very picturesque live comparison of a crocodile and alligator - comparison of their behaviour in the same situation, etc. It was very interesting and the guy presenting it was very chatty and talked a lot, involving the audience at times. He also got into the tasmanian devil’s enclosure and caught it and showed it around to everyone and talked about it a bit. Usually they hide and are very difficult to see from up-close. The animal looks a bit like a cat mixed with a mouse and the sound it makes is really devilish.
Blue Mountains to pasmo gór jakąś godzinę jazdy od Sydney. Góry są łagodne i najwyższy szczyt ma 1190m n.p.m. Cała okolica Blue Mountains jest świetnie zorganizowana i wszystko pod kątem turystów na zasadzie zwiedzania - nie trzeba buciorów górskich, laski i plecaka żeby je trochę zwiedzić. Jest masa punktów widokowych na trasie jazdy samochodem, więc można się zatrzymać i podziwiać widoki z różnych stron.
Blue Mountains is a mountainous region just outside Sydney, about one hour drive. The mountains are rather flat and the highest point is 1190m above see level. The whole Blue Mountains area is really well organised with tourist in mind, not necessary mountain climbers - you don’t need mountain boots or a backpack to see most of it. There are a lot of lookouts by the roads so you can just stop, when driving, and admire the views from different angles.
Do tego dochodzi jazda podniebną kolejką Scenic Skyway nad wielką przepaścią. Przejażdżka odbywa się na trasie 720 metrów, na wysokości 270m. Jest to pierwsza taka przejażdżka w której zastosowano rodzaj szklanej podłogi (Electro-Sceniglass). Widoki z wagonika są w 360 stopniach dookołana między innymi Three Sisters (Trzy Siostry), Wodospady Katoomba, Góra Solitary i niekończąca się Dolina Jamison. Piotrek trochę się stresował ale było bardzo ciekawie i chyba nie żałuje. Fajne widoki, przez okna jak i przez szklaną podłogę. Piotrek trzymał się raczej środka z uwagi na jego lęk wysokości ;) Jest jeszcze druga podniebna kolejka liniowa, trochę bardziej po skosie, ale już sobie podarowaliśmy. Trzecia atrakcja to Scenic Railway czyli najbardziej strome tory na świecie, po których jedzie odkryta kolejka i siedząc w środku naprawdę ma się wrażenie miejscami jakby się jechało pionowo (jechaliśmy w dól przodem, i z powrotem w górę tyłem). Zjazd w dół ma 415m, i zjeżdża się wzdłuż klifu tunelem w dół i dociera się dostarożytnego lasu deszczowego, a stamtąd widoki równie ciekawe.
One of the attractions is the Scenic Skyway ride over a big valley. It is a 720m journey, and 270m high. It has the world’s first Electro-Sceniglass floor so you can admire the views through it. The views are in 360 degree and you can see the famous Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and the very vast Jamison Valley. Piotr was a bit afraid to go inside it, but it was really interesting and I bet he doesn’t regret doing it. The views really breathtaking, through the glass floor as well. Piotr rather kept away from the sides and from the glass bits of the floor, due to his fear of heights ;)
There is also another ride, more on a sloppy, but we decided not to go on it. The third ride is a Scenic Railway, which is the world’s steepest rail ride. When sitting inside, sometimes you feel like you were going upright (we took it down and then back up). It’s a 415m descent, through a cliff side tunnel down into the ancient rainforest.
Podsumowując nasz wypad do Australii - krótki ale treściwy. Nam w zupełności wystarczyło i zobaczyliśmy to co najciekawsze (jak dla nas).
Muszę napomnieć że jak dotarliśmy do domu Adama i Beaty, Piotrek wciągnął Adama w grę komputerową World of Warcraft. No i praktycznie prawie codziennie ja i Beata musiałyśmy Adama i Piotrka wyciągać z domu żeby cokolwiek zobaczyć. Inaczej skończyło by się na graniu w WoW non stop ;)
To summarise our stay in Australia - it was short but substantial. We’ve had enough and we saw everything that was the most interesting for us.
I have to mention that on the day we got to Adam and Beata’s, Piotr drew Adam into playing World of Warcraft. So almost every day me and Beata had to drag both out of the house. If we didn’t the whole stay would be playing WoW ;)
